Elize and Rob’s wedding, at the end of the Summer 2019, was not meant to be held at Basmaignée. They had viewed and fallen in love with a château in the Loire Valley, and booked it for their special day. Unfortunately, or should I say fortunately, as it all worked for the best in the end, the owners of that venue were really slow in arranging the wedding, failing to reply to Elize’s questions, and when April came, and that nothing was planned, no contract was signed, while the “save the dates” had already been sent to the guests, it was a rather panicked Elize who got in touch with us to explore the possibility of a change of venue.
In just over a week, we had the outline of the weekend planned, suppliers chosen and quotes received. Obviously, the details were still to be decided upon, but it was enough for Elize and Rob to make the decision to switch venue, and finally send their invitations to their guests.
Four months later, after many emails, texts and phone calls, we finally got to meet Elize and her incredibly kind parents, soon followed by Rob and his adorable little boy. All hands on deck, it was once again a very busy weekend, between the shuttles for the guests, the day-prior hog roast, the ceremony in the woods with a local Reverend, the outdoor cocktail, and, a last-minute decision, the wedding breakfast held on the lawn, at sundown, followed by dancing on the terrace. In the blink of an eye, it was already over.
It was a huge pleasure to work alongside Elize and Rob to plan their wedding weekend, and it was incredibly rewarding to see them and their guests have the best of times here. Each wedding we plan here is special to us, and it’s a great honour to be part of the couple’s magical day. This wedding was pretty unique too, as it was our very first wedding held in both French and English, for both sides of the family. Elize and Rob, we wish you and your family many many years of happiness!
